Any video. One clear picture.

Variable Sense reads any video as it happens — CCTV, dashcams, body cameras, drones and phones — raises the alert, and remembers what it saw so you can find it later.

Why we built it

Most footage is never watched, and the rest only after the fact, whether from CCTV, dashcams, bodycams or phones. Variable Sense reads it as it happens, raises the alert and remembers it.

How it works

Every frame, four steps. From pixels to a decision.

Every video, from a fixed camera or a moving one, runs the same pipeline on your own machines, so your team hears about what matters and can find anything afterwards.

  1. Step 1

    Detects

Vehicles, people and objects, tracked and counted.

  2. Step 2

    Reads

Plates, lanes, appearance, faces and zones.

  3. Step 3

    Alerts

Wrong-way driving, congestion, face matches, restricted zones and loitering.

  4. Step 4

    Remembers

    Search, journeys, heatmaps and reports.

Everything it does today

Switch each one on per camera. Everything below works on any video: recorded files and live streams, from CCTV to dashcams, body cameras, drones and phones.

The detection layer

  • Finds what is in frameVehicles, people, animals and things lying on the road, each sorted into a group you can filter on.
  • Follows each oneEvery object keeps one ID while it is in view, with its sharpest photo kept.
  • Any videoCCTV and NVR recordings, live RTSP streams, and dashcam, body-camera, drone and phone footage, reconnecting on its own when a stream drops.
  • Many cameras at onceEach camera has its own settings and analyses, and can analyse fewer frames to save CPU.

Vehicles

  • Number platesRead and corrected against Indian plate formats, including two-row bike plates.
  • The same vehicle, everywhereA returning vehicle keeps its identity by plate, and its route across cameras can be traced. Any vehicle with a readable plate, no enrolment needed.
  • Vehicle attributesType and colour, kept with the vehicle so you can filter on them later.
  • Traffic violation monitoringWrong-way and wrong-lane driving, against lanes learned from traffic or drawn per camera, including which vehicles each lane allows.
  • CongestionFree, busy, heavy or jammed, from how many vehicles there are, how much road they cover and how fast they move.

People

  • Clothing and accessoriesUpper and lower clothing, headwear, bags and glasses, and which way someone faces.
  • Apparent age and genderEstimated from the body, never the face.
  • Face recognition Opt-inFinds people enrolled from a photo, uploaded on the dashboard with their consent, matches them on every camera it is switched on for, and alerts with a snapshot. Off unless a camera turns it on.

Movement and heatmaps

  • How people and vehicles move through a spaceColours the busiest areas right on the live video, switched on and off from the dashboard.
  • People or vehicles onlyShow one or both, and let old activity fade on live cameras.
  • Volume and directionDraw a line across the road and what crosses it is counted, each way tallied separately.
  • Saved with every runA heatmap image for each group, over a frame of the scene.

Zones and behaviour

  • Restricted zonesSomeone inside a no-go area for a second is flagged. Brushing past the edge is not, and riders on bikes are not counted as people on foot.
  • LoiteringSomeone staying in a zone longer than you allow, timed from when they arrived and not reset by a brief step out.
  • CrowdsA zone holding more people than you set, reported when the crowd forms and again when it clears.
  • RunningMeasured in body heights per second, so it means the same near the camera and far from it.

Alerts and integration

  • Alerts to your systemsTraffic violations, congestion changes and face matches, sent once, signed, and retried until delivered, so your traffic control systems can act on them.
  • Live dashboardSwitch cameras, watch the feed with boxes drawn, start and stop cameras, and check their health.
  • APIObjects, identities, alerts, search and enrolled people, for your own tools.
  • Storage you controlOne database for everything, with limits by age and disk space.
